Elephant Family Carving
Who doesn't melt at the sight of elephants? These gorgeous, majestic animals get us right in the heart. We're in love with this carving of an elephant family of 7.
Artisans working with Sana Hastakala ("small handicraft" in Nepali) hand-carved this piece. The organization is a Kathmandu-based nongovernmental, nonprofit export organization working to preserve the rich artistic skill and traditions of Nepali artisans. It also provides additional training and marketing assistance to artisans. Eighty percent of the artisans are women; most artisans aren't formally educated. Many of these artisans work on a small scale from their homes. Profit from sales is used for producer development programs, staff welfare, and organizational strengthening.
This sweet carving is 2.5"x2.5" and made from resin.
